Governor’s Council member in Worthington

WORTHINGTON — Tara Jacobs, District 8 Governor’s Council member, will be at Town Hall Thursday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m.

Jacobs will explain the function of the Massachusetts Governor’s Council and its accomplishments in the last year.

Rod & Gun Club Deer Supper

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Rod & Gun Club hosts its annual Deer Supper Saturday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m.

Dinner includes prime rib with sides and dessert. Doors open at 5 p.m. for this BYOB event.

Summer on Strong kicks off Wednesday in Northampton

EASTHAMPTON — Easthampton Media presents “I Remember 1948,” film and discussion Monday, Dec 4 at 7 p.m.

In the film, refugee elders recount their memories of Al Nakba, “the catastrophe,” May 15, 1948, when as children, they and another 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes.

The short film will be followed by a discussion led by musician and publisher, Palestinian Michel Moushabeck.

The event will be live in studio, 116 Pleasant St., Suite 102, and broadcast on E•Media’s Channel 191, on YouTube and streamed: https://easthamptonmedia.org/watch-listen/

Art Gallery open house

NORTHAMPTON — Northampton Center for the Arts will hold an open house in its new dedicated Art Gallery at 33 Hawley on Friday, Dec. 8, from 5:30-7 p.m. There will be time for refreshments and mingling, as well as a chance to hear about the evolution of the gallery, how to have an exhibit, and what to expect in 2024.

The Art Gallery that the Northampton Center for the Arts (NCFA) stewards at 33 Hawley is a space which supports NCFA’s mission to foster community connections through the arts. The Gallery will provide dedicated space to cultivate constantly evolving and transformative conversations between and among artists and viewers.

Over the past year, representatives from NCFA have worked with community members through listening sessions, a public survey, and the formation of a steering committee to envision a gallery space that is welcoming and accessible. The Art Gallery vision and implementation is the result of dozens of artists, artist administrators, arts admirers, and patrons sharing their thoughts and lived experiences.

The event is free and open to the public, and all local artists and arts lovers are welcome.

Know Your Town sponsored program

SOUTH HADLEY — Know Your Town will sponsor a program about the history and finance of the South Hadley Fire Districts on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the community meeting room of the South Hadley Public Library.

Melissa Couture Rimbold, South Hadley associate assessor, will provide an overview of why, when and how South Hadley’s Fire Districts 1 and 2 were formed and how they are financed through property taxes and water rates.

The informational session is designed to provide background on the two districts. The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Northampton Rotary Festival of Trees

NORTHAMPTON – The Northampton Rotary and TommyCar Auto Group will hold a Festival of Trees event on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 12-5 p.m., at 347 King St.

The Festival of Trees will feature artificial trees decorated by local businesses and organizations. Each tree is unique and available to take home for the holidays. Purchase raffle tickets and place in the entry can of those you hope to win. The event will also feature a visit from Santa, face painting, food and raffles.

Car dealership hosts toy drive, Santa pictures

HOLYOKE – Gary Rome Hyundai has partnered with local comedian Jess Miller of Funnyraising Comedy Shows and OMG! Comedy Shows to host a toy drive for foster children. The “Stuff the Trunk” toy drive will be held at Gary Rome Hyundai located at 150 Whiting Farms Road in Holyoke, and will begin on Monday and end on Sunday, Dec. 10. Toys can be dropped off at the Gary Rome Hyundai showroom during regular business hours.
