Northampton’s Keller Mahoney paces local pack at MIAA Alpine Ski Championships

WESTMINSTER — Three local schools had athletes qualify and compete in Tuesday’s MIAA Alpine Ski Championships at Wachusett Mountain.

Hampshire Regional, Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School and Northampton all put skiers into Tuesday’s meet.

Northampton’s Keller Mahoney was the top local finisher on the boys side, taking 37th in the giant slalom (56.07 seconds) and 29th in the slalom (50.97). Also for the Blue Devil boys Jasper Tuck took 136th in the giant slalom and 116th in the slalom (1:08.14) while Henry Fallon came in 141st in the giant slalom (1:10.18). 

Billy Warren, Jon Dunn and Isaac Stith earned top 100 finishes for the Hampshire boys, Warren placing 82nd in the giant slalom (58.23) and 61st in the slalom (55.16) while Dunn took 90th in the giant slalom (58.56) and 68th in the slalom (55.67) and Stith came in 86th in the slalom (58.32).

Also in the giant slalom Brandon Couture took 133rd (1:02.61), Stith came in 134th (1:02.65) and Chad Hockenberry came in 135th (1:03.67). Hockenberry also came in 119th in the slalom (1:10.16).  

Those finishes helped the Raider boys earn a 15th place team finish on Tuesday. 

For the PVCICS boys, Clayton English took 115th in the giant slalom (1:00.14) and 105th in the slalom (1:01.91), James Scott placed 85th in the slalom (57.95) and 137th in the giant slalom (1:04.45) while Teddy Scott came in 124th in the giant slalom (1:01.22). 

The Hampshire girls had a pair of top 100 finishers, with Hazel Scully-Henry placing 87th in the slalom (1:02.43) while Ella Cleary came in 80th in the giant slalom (1:00.97).

Dana Warren placed 101st in the slalom (1:04.24) and 133rd in the giant slalom (1:05.28) while Scully-Henry took 118th in the giant slalom (1:03.03). 

Sarah Fardal was the lone competitor for the PVCICS girls, taking 57th in the giant slalom (59.77) and 64th in the slalom (59.02). 

Simone Pagar and Camilla Hatch were the two competitors for Northampton. Pagar took 112th in the slalom (1:06.90) and 134th in the giant slalom (1:05.41) while Hatch came in 123rd in the slalom (1:12.29) and 126th in the giant slalom (1:04.00). 

St. John’s Prep was the team winner on the boys side while Masconomet Regional was the winner on the girls side.
