The co-publishers of the Daily Hampshire Gazette said today they have no immediate plans to move the newspaper from its present location at 16 Armory St. Reacting to a report in a Springfield newspaper that the Gazette was moving its operations to the former First National Store on Conz Street, Charles W. and Peter L. DeRose called the story inaccurate.

The Northampton Board of Health last night reaffirmed its pledge to fluoridate the city’s water supply, overriding a request from the City Council to delay implementation until a referendum vote this fall. It is the BPW that must carry out the fluoridation order of the health board.

Keeping the Coolidge Bridge open and minimizing congestion is considered the biggest challenge of the two-year reconstruction project, which will replace the 60-year-old deck and add a fourth lane. Preventing emergency vehicles from getting stuck in bridge traffic is central to the traffic plan being developed, people involved in the project say.

Northampton’s Kollmorgen Corp. has won a $22 million contract from a German shipyard to produce four sets of twin periscopes for the Turkish Navy. The contract, which will take more than five years to complete, is considered a major one for the company’s electro-optical division, which reported $42 million in sales last year.

After a quarter-century of service to the town, Chesterfield resident David Kielson, 78, announced that with his term expiring, he will not seek re-election to the Select Board in May. In addition to eight terms — which amounts to 24 years — on the Chesterfield Select Board, Kielson served as town accountant for 25 years.

Judge Beth A. Crawford was sworn in last week as the first justice of Franklin Probate and Family Court. Before her arrival at the Probate and Family Court, Crawford practiced privately for nine years in Northampton, specializing in domestic relations, juvenile and criminal law.
