Mount Holyoke dean moves on to Swarthmore

SOUTH HADLEY - Mount Holyoke College Dean of Students Elizabeth Braun will leave the Valley this summer to become dean of students at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.

Braun, a 10-year staffer at Mount Holyoke and dean of students there since 2003, is to become Swarthmore's dean July 1.

SOUTH HADLEY - Although she was in a northern Dominican Republic city, Haeinn Woo, a Mount Holyoke College pre-med student, felt the tremors of the earthquake emanating out of central Haiti on Jan. 12. At first, Woo didn't think much of the quake, but as soon as she returned to her host family's home, news of the devastation in Port-au-Prince consumed her. She decided to go to Haiti to help in any way possible and took steps to help where she could, but like other volunteers, said the experience was heart-wrenching and frustrating, in part because it wasn't always clear how to get help to those who needed it most.
