Home, vehicle breaks probed in Amherst

AMHERST - Police are investigating break-ins to an Amherst home and two vehicles Wednesday night.

The first incident was reported at 8:45 p.m., when a Woodside Avenue resident told police a television set was stolen from his apartment. Detective Richard MacLean said there were no signs of forced entry.

· Daniel Adam Fish, 28, of Montague, was arrested Tuesday at 7:49 p.m. on College Street on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon after he threw a can of Mountain Dew at a woman, police said.

Bar altercation leads to assault charge

AMHERST - Police arrested a South Hadley man early Monday following a confrontation with another bar patron, police said.

Search doesn't turn up Pelham break-in suspect

PELHAM - Police searched unsuccessfully for nearly three hours Tuesday for a man who allegedly broke into a Buffam Road home. The search was called off shortly after 1 p.m.

Pelham Police Chief Gary Thomann said the homeowner returned around 10:30 a.m. to find a man standing in his garage. The intruder fled into the woods. Nothing appears to have been stolen, Thomann said.

AMHERST - While the post-Super Bowl revelry on the University of Massachusetts campus drew a large law enforcement response Sunday night, police were kept busy throughout the weekend by a variety of incidents, including two in which officers were allegedly assaulted.
