Search doesn't turn up Pelham break-in suspect

PELHAM - Police searched unsuccessfully for nearly three hours Tuesday for a man who allegedly broke into a Buffam Road home. The search was called off shortly after 1 p.m.

Pelham Police Chief Gary Thomann said the homeowner returned around 10:30 a.m. to find a man standing in his garage. The intruder fled into the woods. Nothing appears to have been stolen, Thomann said.

PELHAM - A new restaurant will open its doors here Sunday.

Penni's Rebel Cafe at 387A Daniel Shays Highway, or Route 202, is hosting a grand opening between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. with live music and storytelling to accompany servings of the restaurant's American-style fare.

PELHAM - The New Year's Eve car crash on Route 202 that killed one man, his unborn twins and injured his fiancee was likely caused by black ice, the Pelham police chief said today.

The accident is still under investigation by State Police, but it appears that neither alcohol nor speed were a factor, said Pelham Police Chief Gary Thomann.
