Belchertown boys volleyball sweeps Pacers

The Belchertown boys volleyball team defeated Chicopee 3-0 on the road Monday.

The Orioles moved to 2-1 with the 25-17, 26-24, 25-19 win.

James Law had two aces, eight kills, two blocks and 10 assists to pace Belchertown.

Jon Boudreau (ace) added four kills while Cody Guardino chipped in with two aces, four kills and three digs.

Belchertown boys volleyball beats Ware

The Belchertown boys volleyball team bounced back Friday following their season-opening loss on Thursday.

The Orioles swept Ware 25-16, 25-19 and 25-16 in Belchertown Friday to improve to 1-1 overall.

Cody Guardino (five kills, three blocks) and Johua Santos each had two aces while Matt Henry and Tyler Verville each had three kills for the Orioles.

Deerfield defeats Tigers girls lacrosse

The South Hadley girls lacrosse team dropped its season opener Wednesday, falling 15-9 at Deerfield Academy.

Martha Hamlin led the Tigers with three goals.

Katie Cavanaugh scored two goals for South Hadley, while Abby Lemanski and Nora McDonough each contributed a goal and an assist.

Maddie Brandts and Juliette Chenier scored the other goals for the Tigers.

The Belchertown boys volleyball team improved to 3-0 with a 3-0 victory over Chicopee at home Monday.

T.J. Leblanc had six kills, five digs and one block to pace the Orioles to the 26-24, 25-19, 25-16 win.

Tyler Keefe added five kills and four digs for Belchertown, and James Law contributed seven kills, three digs and two blocks.

Charlie Cronin got his senior season off to a roaring start with six goals and an assist as the Northampton boys lacrosse team defeated Belchertown 16-3 on Friday.

The host Orioles were playing in their first varsity contest after previously competing as a junior varsity squad.

Orioles top Red Raiders

Belchertown 3, Athol 1 - The Orioles earned a 25-13, 25-20, 21-25, 25-20 win on the road.

T.J. Leblanc led Belchertown (7-8, 2-5) with six kills and a block, and James Law (two blocks) and Doug Rogers each had five kills.

Orioles fall to Lions

Ludlow 3, Belchertown 1 - The visiting Orioles won the first set 25-22 but the Lions (4-5, 3-2 North) won the next three 25-11, 25-15, 25-16.

Doug Rogers had five kills and James Law added two for Belchertown (6-8, 1-5 North).

LaBlanc leads Belchertown past Dean

Belchertown 3, Dean Tech 0 - T.J. LaBlanc had a career-high 12 kills to lead his team to a win on the road.

LaBlanc's 12 kills were the most of any player in a single match this season for Belchertown (6-7).

Evan Quinn helped with four kills and two blocks for the Orioles.

Belchertown 3, Dean Tech 0 - T.J. LeBlanc had 10 kills and one dig as the Orioles (5-5) swept in Holyoke, 25-16, 25-23, 25-12.

Gavin Lofland added nine kills, one block and one assist, while Mike Wood had 26 assists and one kill for Belchertown.

LeBlanc's six kills not enough as Orioles fall

Agawam 3, Belchertown 0 - T.J. LeBlanc had six kills and two blocks, but the Orioles (3-4, 1-3 North) lost on the road 25-12, 25-20, 25-19.

Tyler Keefe finished with two kills and three blocks, while Mike Wood had 13 assists and one block for Belchertown.

Orioles sweep Indians

Belchertown 3, Ware 0 - Led by seven kills by James Law and four kills and a block by Doug Rogers, the Orioles (3-3) swept the Indians (1-8) at home 25-11, 25-20, 25-12.

Mohawk blanks Belchertown

Mohawk Trail 3, Belchertown 0 - The Orioles dropped below .500 with the loss in Buckland.

Evan Quinn had six kills and five blocks, T.J. Leblanc added eight kills and James Law contributed five kills and two blocks for Belchertown (2-3, 1-2 North).

Belchertown 3, Athol 1 - The Orioles captured their first league victory since the 2007 season with the 25-18, 25-19, 20-25, 26-24 win at home.

Mike Wood had two kills, one block, 13 assists and two digs, while James Law had six kills, one block and one dig for Belchertown (2-2, 1-1 North).

Volleyball: Orioles on the return

With a veteran group of juniors and a host of newcomers, the Belchertown boys volleyball team looks to rebound from a down year and return to the playoffs.

Ludlow sweeps at Belchertown

The Belchertown boys volleyball team lost 3-0 to visiting Ludlow on Monday.

"It was a tough game," Belchertown coach John Skorupski said, "Ludlow is always tough, they came to play."

The Orioles (1-2, 0-1 PVIAC North) struggled early and lost the first set 25-11, before dropping the next two 25-17 and 25-9.

O's sweep Holyoke

Belchertown 3, Holyoke 0 - The Orioles (1-1) swept the Purple Knights (1-1) at home, 25-11, 25-14, 25-20.

P.J. LeBlanc and Doug Rogers each had five kills for Belchertown, while James Law added four kills and four blocks.
