Ex-private school headmaster in Berkshires pleads guilty to child pornography charges
PITTSFIELD (AP) — The former headmaster of private schools in the Berkshires and eastern New York has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.
David Harris of North Adams was also ordered Thursday to register as a sex offender.
The 68-year-old Harris was headmaster of Pine Cobble School in Williamstown from 1989 to 1999, a decade before his arrest in July 2010. He was head of the Cambridge Montessori School in Cambridge, N.Y. at the time of his arrest.
Both schools are for children from preschool to ninth-grade.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that he pleaded guilty to 18 counts of knowingly possessing visual material of a child in sexual conduct, possession of child pornography and dissemination of child pornography.
Harris says he is undergoing treatment.
