AMHERST - Jordan Laguerre's University of Massachusetts basketball career ended without the guard from New Hampshire ever playing a game.
Sources close to UMass confirmed that Laguerre has left the school for personal, non-basketball reasons. He hasn't asked for his release to transfer to another program.

The University of Massachusetts baseball team was six outs away from advancing in the losers' bracket of the double-elimination Atlantic 10 tournament, but the Minutemen gave up a two-run home run to Rhode Island's Dave Haverstick in the bottom of the eighth and fell 6-5, ending their season at 22-22.

The walk-on who was deemed not good enough as a freshman was deemed better than everyone else as a senior. Joe Popielarczyk's storybook senior season at the University of Massachusetts added another chapter Tuesday when he was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year. Popielarczyk was 6-1 with a 1.24 ERA that led the conference and was third in Division I. He had 62 strikeouts and 26 walks in 79-2/3 innings.

AMHERST - One of the most popular players ever for University of Massachusetts men's basketball team is coming back to Amherst. Lou Roe is expected to join the Minutemen's coaching staff at some point this summer according to multiple sources close to UMass.

The University of Massachusetts baseball team clinched the No. 4 seed in the Atlantic 10 tournament with an 11-1 win over George Washington on senior day Saturday at Earl Lorden Field.
The Minutemen (22-20, 14-10 A-10) pounded out 14 hits, led by a 3-for-4 performance from Kyle Adie, who scored twice, drove in a run and stole two bases.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Massachusetts pitcher Sara Plourde was cruising through five innings in the opening game of the NCAA softball regional on Friday. She'd given up no hits, allowed just one baserunner and struck out seven of the first 12 batters she faced.
