Frontier volleyball wins D-3 state title

The Red Hawks won their second straight state D-3 championship in an epic 3-2 win over Case on Saturday at Algonquin Regional in Northborough.

Amherst softball topples Milford, heads to state final

Emma Mendoker tossed a two-hit shutout, Brittany Deres had a two-run single and Amherst Regional got some revenge in a 3-0 win over Milford at the UMass Softball Complex on Thursday.

The Hurricanes (23-1) will play defending state champion King Philip of Wrentham (25-0) in the finals Saturday at 7 p.m. at Worcester State.

Frontier wrapped up an incredible season with a dominating 3-0 win at Algonquin Regional in Northborough on Saturday.

Kevin Ziomek tossed a complete-game gem in the nine-inning title game in Lowell, while Sean Cunningham came through with the big hit and Steffen Herter brought a tremendous emotional lift. Stay tuned for complete coverage.
