On May 19, I attended the Jamie Kent concert at the Academy of Music.
The opening act was the JFK Middle School jazz band conducted by a passionate and enthusiastic Claire Williams. I was gobsmacked to discover the rich, coordinated, professional sound produced by this young group of students.
I had no idea this level of musical talent is being cultivated in our public schools. Imagine how much further the music program could go if it was fully funded.
JFK Middle School jazz band swings. I look forward to hearing the band again when it is the headline and not just the opening act.
