AMHERST — An Amherst College senior and member of the college’s football team died last week while on spring break, according to a statement issued by the college.
Andrew Dorogi, a senior economics major, died Friday.
The statement, sent by Sandra Genelius, chief communications officer, expressed profound sadness at Dorogi’s death.
“We extend our deepest sympathies on behalf of the entire Amherst community to his family, friends, teammates, coaches and teachers,” the statement reads.
An Ohio television station reported that Dorogi was a Cleveland native and graduate of University School in Hunting Valley, Ohio.
The circumstances surrounding Dorogi’s death were not revealed.
“At this time, in keeping with the wishes of Andrew’s family, we have no other information to share,” the statement reads.
