Emma Donnelly, of Leverett, harvests anise hyssop Monday at an herb garden she tends on River Road in Whately. California poppies grow behind her. She works for Blue Dragon Apothecary in Greenfield and uses the herbs to make tinctures, teas, salves, aroma sprays and other sundries. The spot is also a learning garden for interns employed by Blue Dragon. Donnelly has her own business, Harmonics Gardens, that she co-owns with Gerald Clark. They install and design medicinal, edible gardens, stone paths, walkways and other landscaping.
