EASTHAMPTON — In her successful campaign for mayor, Nicole LaChapelle raised nearly $30,000 more than her opponent, Joy Winnie, year-end reports filed this month show.

LaChapelle took in $42,960 for her campaign, the largest campaign war chest in Easthampton’s history. Winnie raised $13,485, according to reports filed with the Office of Campaign Finance.

From Oct. 21 to Dec. 31, LaChapelle raised $8,799 from 48 donors. Of that amount, $1,130 was donated after the Nov. 7 election. In the two-month period, Winnie raised $2,275 from 25 donors.

LaChapelle’s campaign received $1,000 donations from Northampton attorney Tom Lesser and from retired Florence resident John Hornor.

Richard E. Neal Massachusetts Political Action Committee, MA & Northern NE Laborers’ District Council Political Action, and congressional staffer Roger Lau each donated $500.

Mayor of Holyoke Alex Morse donated $100 and former state lawmaker Ellen Story donated $50.

From Oct. 21 to Nov. 20, LaChapelle spent $9,226. She spent $3,000 on design and printing of mailers from CK Strategies in Boston, and $1,900 on consulting services from MLM Strategies LLC in Boston.

On Oct. 24 — just two weeks before the election — LaChapelle spent $1,455 on 30 political advertisements on radio station WHMP.

The report shows LaChapelle owes $7,315 to CK Strategies for consulting services.

Winnie’s biggest donor from Oct. 21 to Dec. 31 was retired Easthampton resident Todd Patterson, who donated $500.

The Massachusetts Democratic Party donated $300 to Winnie’s campaign. David Lepine, owner of Lazy D Landscapes and Construction, donated $250.

Winnie spent $6,189 from Oct. 31 to Nov. 8. About half of the expenditures went to Puffer Printing for fliers, buttons and mailing items.
