NORTHAMPTON – A 45-year-old woman died after being found unresponsive at the Starbucks on 211 Main St. Tuesday.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, Northampton Police responded at about 5:31 p.m. to reports of a woman who had been in the bathroom for almost 45 minutes.

With the assistance of staff, officers unlocked the bathroom door, where they found the woman. Officers and then fire personnel attempted to resuscitate the woman before she was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police cordoned off the entire back of the Starbucks but declined to answer questions Tuesday night.

The NPD’s crime scene services unit processed the scene and no foul play is suspected, police said. The official cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The woman’s name is not being released at this time, and she is not a resident of Northampton, police said.
