The South Hadley hockey team qualified for the postseason with a 5-4 win over Saint Mary, Saturday at Fitzpatrick Ice Arena in Holyoke.

Michael Mazza had two goals, while Nick Thibault (three assists), Trevor Ouimet and Alex Joao (assist) each had one goal.

Ben Watkins and Will Ortyl each had one assist, while Jake Remillard had 15 saves in net for the Tigers (9-6-2, 9-3-2 Fay-Wright).

Amherst Regional 8, Greenfield 2 — Jake Balderston (assist) had three goals, while Max Hopley and Nathan Masteralexis (assist) each had two as the Hurricanes (12-4-1, 11-2-1 Fay-Wright) rolled at Collins-Moylan Arena.

Gio Rivera had one goal, while Niccolo Cardaropoli had two assists. Richard McIntire, Brandon Feldman and Matthew Longto each had one assist. Clayton Bowser had eight saves.

Tyler Townsley and Zach Geyster each scored for the Green Wave (8-9-2, 5-9-1). Tyler Miner had two assists and Matteo Velez one. Riley Drew (40 saves) and Finn O’Connor (seven) each saw time in net.

Belchertown 4, Mount Everett 3 — The Orioles (9-6-2) scored four goals in the third to skate away with the win at the Mullins Center Practice Rink Saturday.

Raymond Langevin (assist) had three goals, while Vaughn Gillen had one. Adam Mattingly, Nathan Pacheco and Zach Reidy each had one assist. Kyle Greene made 17 saves.

Nordic skiing

Amherst Regional wrapped up the regular season with a 4.8-kilometer freestyle race at Mohawk Trail in Buckland on Saturday.

Willy Wright placed second overall in 14 minutes, 35 seconds in the boys race. He was one second behind winner Evan Arthur of Mount Greylock.

Luke Sedor Protti finished eighth in 15:13 for the Hurricanes, who were fourth.

Amherst’s Kendall Pittman was 21st in 18:53 in the girls race. Katie King was 22nd in 19:11 for the sixth-place Hurricanes.

The state meet will be held Feb. 28 at Notchview Reservation in Windsor.

Boys basketball

Smith Vocational 49, Saint Mary 39 — The Vikings (6-13, 5-10 Tri-County) outscored the Saints 21-5 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win in Westfield on Saturday.

Jayvon Cordova had five of the team’s 11 second-half assists along with all six of his points in the fourth.

Luis Acosta had 14 points, while Travis Wolf had 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Girls basketball

Frontier Regional 44, Hopkins Academy 37 — Marie Diemand had 17 points and Ella Deane added 14 as the Red Hawks (8-10, 5-2 Franklin North) won in Hadley on Saturday.

Samantha Jenks finished with 11 for the Golden Hawks (10-10, 3-5).
