This year marks a milestone in cultural history. It’s been 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl, the English writer who produced such celebrated children’s classics as “Matilda,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “The BFG.”

As part of celebratory events around the world, Penguin Books has launched “The Roald Dahl Splendiferous Showdown,” a touring-bus game show in which the nerdy but lovable Dunston Shufflebottom and his prickly boss, Lady Curtis Woodhead, engage audiences with fun facts and trivia from Dahl’s books, then perform an improvised story based on ideas from kids.

The bus pulls into the Eric Carle Museum, 125 West Bay Road in Amherst, Saturday at 2 p.m. The performance is free with regular museum admission. Recommended for third through sixth graders. carlemuseum.org
