HAMPSHIRE COUNTY – Local legislators are holding three public forums held in the next week.

Holyoke

Another event will take place on Monday at Holyoke Community College from 2-3 p.m.

The forum will be hosted by the HCC Chapter of the Massachusetts Community College Council. State Sen. Jo Comerford, D-Northampton, and state Rep. Aaron Vega, D-Holyoke, who are sponsoring the increase of state funding for public K-12 and higher education in Massachusetts, plan to speak on the Cherish Act and the Promise Act.

Holyoke Mayor Alec Morse and HCC President Christina Royle will also attend the forum. Morse will discuss the impact of underfunding on Holyoke schools, and Royale plans to describe how state funding cuts have hurt students and programs at Holyoke Community college.

Westhampton

A joint public town-hall style event with Sen. Adam Hinds and Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa is set for the Westhampton Public Library Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Hinds, a Democrat in his second term, represents 52 western communities in Berkshire, Hampshire, Franklin and Hampden counties.

Sabadosa, known as a progressive Democrat, was sworn in in January and represents the 1st Hampshire District.

The forum is designed for the community to get to know their state legislators. They will discuss their 2019-2020 policy agendas and welcome questions and comments from the audience.

Pelham

The third forum is sponsored by the Democratic Town Committees of Leverett, Pelham and Shutesbury and will occur on Monday, March 25 at 6:30 at the Pelham Elementary School auditorium.

The forum plans to speak on the complexities of health care through the voice of Reps. Mindy Domb, Lindsay Sabadosa and Natalie Blais, and Senator Jo Comerford.

An open discussion will be held between the legislators, representatives from Medicare for All and the audience.
