SOUTH HADLEY — The Select Board will meet Tuesday evening to discuss how to move forward with its search for a new town administrator after one of two finalist candidates pulled his name out of the running.
Last week, the firm Community Paradigm Associates, which conducted the town’s search for a new town administrator, presented the Select Board with two candidates: Stuart Beckley, the current town administrator in Ware, and Alan Wolf, the current chief of staff to Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz. But the following day, Wolf told the Gazette he had withdrawn his name from consideration and would keep his position in Northampton.
“I still have more work to do for the city of Northampton,” Wolf said of his decision to pull out of the process.
Initially, Community Paradigm Associates had identified four finalists in their search. However, two of those candidates withdrew before the firm could present finalists to the Select Board last week. With Wolf withdrawing, Beckley is the only finalist now remaining.
The Select Board had planned to conduct interviews with Beckley and Wolf this week, but will now be meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. to discuss next steps.
“We’re going to have to get an update from Community Paradigm, and then we’ll have to make a decision about where we go from there,” Select Board Chair Jeffrey Cyr said Monday.
Current Town Administrator Michael Sullivan has announced he will be retiring when his contract expires on June 30.
