NORTHAMPTON – A 53-year-old South Carolina man was found guilty of raping a woman in Northampton in July 2014 at a hotel.

Christopher F. Hoime, of North Myrtle Beach, was convicted by a Hampshire Superior Court jury on Nov. 9 of one count of rape following a 5-day trial.

Hoime is alleged to have drugged the 31-year-old victim during a night out in Northampton and taken her back to his hotel room where he raped her as she came in and out of consciousness, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.

Hoime’s bail was revoked after the verdict was announced. A sentencing date has not been scheduled.

The incident was investigated by Northampton Police Sgt. Patrick Moody and prosecuted by Northwestern Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Suhl, who is chief of the DA’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit.
