AMHERST — A South Amherst restaurant specializing in Mexican and El Salvadoran cuisine will be closed for a few days after an employee tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

Management at El Comalito, 460 West St., announced in a Facebook post that it would be disinfecting the site and has alerted the town’s health department and health director to make sure all protocols are being followed for preventing transmission of the novel coronavirus.

“There is little to no concern about any transmission to our patrons as our staff have had masks in place at all times both inside and outside of our restaurant,” the statement reads.

The positive test is for a no-contact employee, according to the post.

The restaurant is encouraging its staff to get tested and will remain closed until all are determined to be healthy and the restaurant is disinfected.

A second El Comalito, at 126 Northampton St., Easthampton, remains open for pickup and delivery.
