HOLYOKE — A second nursing home in the city has reported that residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

“We have eight residents at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center who have tested COVID-19 positive,” said Christine Looby, a spokeswoman for Trinity Health of New England Senior Communities, which oversees the nursing home.

Looby said that all eight residents are in stable condition, are receiving treatment and are in isolation. She said that the residents were put into isolation when they started showing symptoms of COVID-19. Seven of the residents tested positive on Monday while one tested positive on Wednesday.

All 109 residents at the facility are currently in isolation and limited to their rooms, a policy that was put into place last week.

Since March 11, visits to residents have been restricted to those visiting individuals in end-of-life situations. No staff member has yet to test positive for COVID-19, and Looby said it is not known at this time how the disease got into the facility.

At the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home, 20 veteran residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died amid a coronavirus outbreak at the facility, according to figures released by the state on Wednesday. The state also reported that 62 residents and 68 employees at the 247-bed facility have tested positive for COVID-19.
