Here are events planned to mark Memorial Day throughout Hampshire County this weekend and Monday.

Belchertown

On Sunday at 11 a.m. the Belchertown Veterans Council, in conjunction with the Friends of the Quabbin and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, will hold traditional memorial services at Quabbin Park Cemetary. Attendees are encouraged to arrive at 10:30 a.m.

On Monday, a salute to the veterans interred at South Cemetery will take place from 8:30-8:45 a.m. The Belchertown Memorial Day Parade will then kick off at 10 a.m. at the Town Hall and will conclude at the Town Common, followed by a ceremony.

Hadley

A series of memorial events at town cemeteries will be held on Sunday between 11:15 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. The annual Memorial Day parade, put on by the Hadley American Legion Post 271, will commence at 2 p.m.

The parade will feature pedestrian participants including legionnaires, ceremony officials, public officials, fire and police departments, Girls and Boy Scouts and a band, and vehicles including antique cars, floats, polka bands, farm vehicles and trucks.

After the parade, all participants and spectators are invited back to the Legion for refreshments.

Holyoke 

Holyoke’s Memorial Day celebration will begin with a “22 push-up challenge” on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the War Memorial, 310 Appleton St. The 22 push-up challenge promotes awareness around veteran suicide and mental health issues, in recognition of the fact that an average of 22 U.S. military veterans take their lives each day.

The Patriotic Events Committee invites everyone to participate in the event and partake in free donuts and coffee afterward. The Memorial Day program will start at 10 a.m.

Northampton 

Procession for the Florence Memorial Day Parade on Monday begins at Trinity Row Park at 10 a.m. The parade ends at Park Street Cemetery, where the ceremony will take place led by honorary parade marshal Edwin Nartowicz. Lineup starts at 9:30 a.m.

The ceremony will feature issuing the Medal of Liberty to Gregory Conz, nephew of Alfred (Ted) H. Conz of Northampton killed in action Aug. 22, 1943; Bernard P. Laflam, nephew of Bernard P. Laflam of Northampton killed in action Sept. 13, 1944; and Pearl Judd, daughter of William Adams of Northampton, who was killed in action on July 23, 1944.

Amherst

Amherst’s Memorial Day Commemoration will take place Monday at 9:30 a.m. at War Memorial Pool. A procession will initially gather on the Town Common opposite the Inn on Boltwood at 9:15 a.m., and walk to the War Memorial Pool.

Led by Master of Ceremonies Steven Connor, director of Central Hampshire Veterans’ Services, the commemoration will include various speakers followed by a presentation of the Medal of Liberty to Brian McCullough, whose Uncle Harry F. Sherman was killed in action on July 7, 1944,

The event will also include a roll call of department comrades by the commander of American Legion and a placing of the wreath. 

Hatfield

Hatfield’s American Legion Honor Guard begins the day Sunday, May 28, at 10 a.m., by visiting town cemeteries.

The parade kicks off at 12:30 p.m. from the steps of the Legion, with participants traveling the route to Main Street for the ceremony at Memorial Town Hall.

After the events, a barbecue is held. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Southampton

Monday’s ceremonies in Southampton start at the school at 9 a.m. and parades to Center Cemetery for a ceremony, followed by a procession to town center for another ceremony.

South Hadley

The town’s first Quilt of Honor will be presented to a combat veteran Friday in a ceremony before the Memorial Day breakfast at the Senior Center.

The breakfast is open to veterans and a guest and begins at 8:30 a.m. Food will be provided by the South Hadley High School culinary department.

The quilt is a replication of national Quilt of Valor program, according to Michael Slater, director of veterans services. The quilt was made by the surviving spouse of a veteran, and Slater said the goal is to make the presentation an annual event.

Memorial Day ceremonies will be held Monday beginning at 9 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a ceremony at the Civil War Monument on the town common at 10, and a similar ceremony at 11 at Town Hall, with the reading of names, playing of taps and a proclamation.

Events are co-sponsored by The Friends of The South Hadley Seniors and South Hadley Veterans’ Services.

Easthampton

The members of the Veteran’s Council of Easthampton will hold traditional ceremonies on Monday at 11 a.m. at the four monuments at the city library. This year’s parade, however, is postponed due to road construction. 

Williamsburg

Procession for Monday’s ceremony will begin at 1 p.m., and go from North Main Street to Williamsburg Veterans Memorial.

A Medal of Liberty is being issued to Robin Lee Litchfield on behalf of her Uncle Arthur J. Litchfield, who was killed in action on May 2, 1945; to Gerald E. Larkin American Legion Post 236 on behalf of Gerald E. Larkin, who was killed in action on Dec. 8, 1943; and to Maureen O. Crocker, the niece of Francis J. O’Brien who died as a POW on Sept. 10, 1944.

Westhampton

On Monday, a parade starts in the center of town at 11 a.m. Participants will march to the cemetery for a ceremony followed by picnic in the middle of town.

Hilltowns

The Cummington American Legion Post 304 Memorial Day Services on Monday will take place in the following communities:

■8:30 a.m., Worthington, memorial across from Town Hall;

■9 a.m., West Cummington Cemetery

■9:30 a.m., Cummington, memorial at Community House

■10 a.m., Goshen Cemetery

■11 a.m., Chesterfield Veterans’ Park

■1 p.m., Plainfield, Hilltop Cemetery
