I am distressed by the recent letters calling for the removal of Dr. Fleitman’s columns. For the record, I am a yellow dog Democrat who has changed little politically from my first vote cast 60 years ago. I like to keep informed about the politics I agree with and disagree with, though I can’t stand the constant political harping from the television right (Fox) and left (MSNBC).

The Gazette publishes lots of letters supporting left positions and some supporting right positions. The letters keep me informed about the political pulse of the Valley. I like to read Dr. Fleitman’s columns because he reminds me what I am against, and what I believe in. I think he reminds other readers of this as well, though some would prefer that he be silenced. I disagree.

Keep up the work of keeping us informed of the entire political spectrum, Gazette, not just the slice we agree with.
