HADLEY — Voters in May will decide races for seats on the Board of Health and the Hadley Housing Authority at the town election.
By the March 27 deadline to submit nomination forms, the lone contests are for a two-year seat on the Board of Health held by Emma M.H. Dragon. Dragon, who was appointed last year, will seek to complete a full term, while John C. Waskiewicz, a former Select Board member who lost reelection in 2022, is also running.
Three tenants at Golden Court housing complex are pursuing the five-year seat that John H. Allen was elected to last year. Sue Oppenhiemer, Tracey Reilly and Judith Roncalli are the candidates.
Incumbents are largely running for the remaining elected positions, including for Select Board, where Jane H. Nevinsmith is seeking a second, three-year term. Also, for School Committee, Tara M. Brugger will seek a third, three-year term, while Ethan Percy is pursuing his second term. James J. Maksimoski, first elected to the Planning Board in 1983, is running for his ninth five-year term.
Other incumbents running unopposed include William R. Banack for a three-year term on Board of Assessors, Dr. Susan Mosler for a three-year term on Board of Health and James W. Shea for a three-year term on Park Commission.
Others on the ballot are Maureen K. Devine for a one-year term as Elector under the Oliver Smith Will, a post held by Sheila M. Konieczny, and Jo-Ann Konieczny, a former trustee, and John Hallock, are running for the two, three-year library positions held by Devine and Alan M. Weinberg.
