Michael Cameron scored in the first period, but the UMass hockey team couldn’t keep Boston College at bay in a 3-1 loss at the Mullins Center on Saturday.

The freshman tucked away a turnaround chance in front of the Eagles net from Kenny Connors and Scott Morrow 8 minutes, 33 seconds in.

That lead lasted until the final 21 seconds of the second period when Trevor Kuntar put away a power play chance to tie the game.

Kuntar put BC ahead 6:35 into the third, and Connor Joyce added the third just over three minutes later.

“We've just got to stick together, keep grinding it out. It's been a rough year, but trust me, we're learning from it,” UMass coach Greg Carvel said in a release.

UMass (10-15-5, 4-13-3 Hockey East), which hasn’t beaten the Eagles (2-12-6, 7-8-5) since 2021, went 0-for-4 on the power play but generated seven shots.

Cole Brady stopped 28 shots in his first start for the Minutemen since Nov. 12.

The Minutemen fell to 10th in the league standings and will face No. 16 Northeastern next weekend.
