NORTHAMPTON – A community memorial service will be held Oct. 29 for the late Gregory Stone, the painter and sculptor who died Sept. 29 of cancer after a long and public career in the Valley.

The event will be held at the Academy of Music from 2 to 4 p.m. and is open to the public. A reception will follow.

Calling hours for Stone will be held Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Fiske-Murphy and Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, in Orange.

Stone’s final commissioned sculpture, “Hope,” will be installed this fall on the lawn of the downtown courthouse. It depicts a girl holding a wounded dove.
