Northampton Community Rowing Club closes out season

The Northampton Community Rowing Club competed in the Youth Northeast Fall Championship Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester on Sunday, closing out its season with a handful of amazing achievements.
The girls junior novice took first place in the Women’s Novice 4+ event with a time of 18:38.4, as the team of Charlie Hope, Stella Beek, Amelie Dawson, Norah Sustick and coxswain Zoe Morrison worked hard to earn the first-place mark. They raced against the Blood Street Sculls, Community Rowing Inc., Dexter Southfield, Bromfield Acton Boxborough, Wayland-Weston, Arlington Belmont, Stonington, Duxbury Bay, Boston Latin and Marianopolis — beating out all of them for the win.
The varsity girls grabbed a third-place finish in the Women’s First Varsity 4+ event with a time of 17:42.8, as Camilla Hatch, Finnley Chambers, Ella Hendricks, Harper Mathews and coxswain Dillon Reid put forth a strong effort to earn a podium finish. They raced against Bromfield Acton Boxborough, Brewster, Blood Street Sculls, Westford Academy, Glastonbury, Wayland-Weston, Arlington Belmont, Tabor, Duxbury Bay Maritime School, Hingham High School, East Bay Inc., Middletown, Lewis S. Mills High School, East Lyme, Stonington, Neponset, Worcester, Boston Latin and Marianopolis en route to third.
On the boys side, Northampton’s boys second varsity boat finished in third place in the Men’s Second Varsity 4+ event with a time of 16:52.3. Rowing in that boat was Jasper Coia, Sam Haynes, Henry Sustick, Owen Lalor and coxswain Sadie Mahon-Moore. They raced against Brunswick School, Kent School, Bromfield Acton Boxborough, Blood Street Sculls, Brewster, Middletown, Lewis S. Mills High School, Duxbury Bay Maritime School and Coventry Lake Community Rowing.
Finally, the boys junior novice 1x boat rowed by Otto Geis placed third in the Men’s Junior Novice 1x event with a time of 22:10.8. Otto rowed against Joseph Portilla of Ave Maris Stella, Charlie Miller of Brunswick School, Oscar Reich of Northampton Community Rowing and Henry Kyle of the Blood Street Sculls.
