NORTHAMPTON — An argument between two Walmart employees escalated into a stabbing Thursday morning, police said, and a Holyoke man is facing charges.

Omar A. Rios-Robles, 23, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife.

Northampton police Capt. Victor Caputo said officers responded to 180 N. King St. at around 5 a.m. for reports of an argument outdoors that turned into a fight, and found one victim had been stabbed several times in the back and left triceps.

Officers searched the area and found and arrested Rios-Robles, of 197 High St. in Holyoke.

Officers also provided first aid to the victim, who was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries .

Rios-Robles was due to appear in court Thursday.
