HADLEY — In what may be viewed as an unusual circumstance for Hadley, no contested races will appear on the ballot when town election is held April 13.
Though there are candidates for all positions, except a three-year position on the Board of Health held by Emma Dragon, none will feature competition unless an active write-in candidate joins the field.
Nomination forms were due to the town clerk’s office Tuesday.
Incumbents who are seeking reelection include Joyce Chunglo for a three-year seat on the Select Board, Michael P. Sarsynski, Jr. for a five-year term on the Planning Board, Humera M. Fasihuddin and Paul Phifer for three-year seats on the School Committee, Randall E. Izer for a one-year term as moderator, Alison Donta-Venman for a three-year seat as Library trustee, Jeffery Mish for a three-year term on the Board of Assessors, Sheila Konieczny for a one-year term as Elector under the Oliver Smith Will and Steven N. Higgins for a three-year seat on the Park Commission.
The lone newcomers on the ballot are Amy Parsons, seeking a three-year seat on the Select Board held by Christian Stanley, who opted not to run again, and Jessica Kem for a three-year term as Library trustee.
Candidates can withdraw their nominations through March 11.
Most years Hadley voters are presented with a race for Select Board or Planning Board, and some years for other positions in town government. But in both 1997 and 1999 there was no competition for elected seats.
