On the strength of three-run second and third innings, the Valley Blue Sox continued their strong start to the 2021 NECBL season behind a 9-4 win over the Mystic Schooners on Thursday night at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke.

Trailing 2-0 after one inning, the Blue Sox (11-5) scored three in the second and three in the third to snatch control. Valley moved into first place in the NECBLย Southern Division, one game ahead of the Newport Gulls.

Luke Franzoni was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored to pace the offense. Cristian Tejada also registered two hits in the win, while Mason LaPlante clubbed a home run and finished with three RBIs.

Owen Langan was the winning pitcher, tossing 2 1/3 innings of relief work.

The Blue Sox stay home for a huge game Friday night, as theyโ€™ll host Marthaโ€™s Vineyard (8-5) at 7:05 p.m.
