AMHERST — A man missing for more than a month from Fitchburg may be in Amherst or Belchertown, or a surrounding community, according to Massachusetts State Police.

State Police announced via Facebook on Wednesday that they are assisting Fitchburg Police in locating Ethan Freeman, 23, who was reported missing on Jan. 19 and was last seen on Arlington Street in that city.

Freeman, according to State Police, may have taken a ride share to Belchertown, Amherst or Gardner, or another nearby town, and also may have brought a firearm with him. Freeman has been licensed to carry, but that license is suspended.

Freeman is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 210 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray winter jacket, jeans, a black hat and gray boots.

A State Police Air Wing, Special Emergency Response Team and K-9 Unit are in the midst of conducting a search with Fitchburg officers there.

Anyone with information about Freeman’s whereabouts should call 911 or Fitchburg Police at 978-345-4355.
