The United States keeps winning at the Under-24 World Ultimate Championships in Heidelberg, Germany.

The U.S. women’s team finished Pool A undefeated on Tuesday following a 15-10 victory over Columbia. The game was tied 4-4 when the U.S. (5-0) scored three straight to take control for good. Amherst native Angela Zhu fed Claire Trop, who has ties to Amherst, to give the U.S. a 6-4 lead. Amherst native and Pioneer Valley Performing Arts graduate Renata Pepi scored to make it 7-4.

Zhu finished with a goal and three assists, while Trop had two goals and one assist.

The U.S. men’s team is 6-0 following a pair of wins in Pool A. The U.S. beat Denmark, 15-6, and Germany, 15-11. Tanner Johnson, of UMass, scored six goals against Germany.

The mixed U.S. team finished Pool A undefeated after beating the Netherlands, 15-9, and Great Britain, 15-2.

Amherst Regional graduate Luke Webb had a goal in each victory.

Baseball

Northampton 16, Mohawk 1 — Northampton won its opener game of the Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League Sandy Koufax playoffs.

The top seed will host Hatfield at 5:30 p.m. at Florence Field in round two of the double elimination tournament, Wednesday. Hatfield lost to Amherst 10-0 on Tuesday.

Softball

Southampton Raiders 17, Westfield Batter’s Box 5 — Jocelyn Mettey, Emma Czarniecki, Ella Malanson and Olivia Labrie each had two hits as the Raiders (6-0) cruised in 14-and-under Suburban League action at Norris School.

Czarniecki struck out two for the win in the circle.

Golf

Massachusetts Amateur — South Deerfield resident Jacob Zaranek advanced to the match-play portion of the 111th tournament following a second round 4-over 75 at The Country Club in Brookline.

Zaranek finished stroke play tied for 26th at 5-over 147 (72-75). Cody Booska, of Greenfield, also advanced. Booska was tied for 15th at 2-over (72-72–144).

The top 32 players advance to match play, which starts Wednesday. Zaranek, who plays out of the Country Club of Greenfield, will face Nick Maccario (Bradford C.C.) at 8:40 a.m. Booska (C.C. of Greenfield) will play Colin Brennan (Indian Ridge C.C.) at 7:10 a.m.

The round of 16 is Thursday. If Booska advances, he will face Herbie Aikens (Old Sandwich G.C.), who finished atop the leaderboard at 7 under following stroke play.

Amherst resident Ronald Laverdiere (Crumpin-Fox) missed the cut at 10 over. Hadley native Zach Garbacik (Needham G.C.) missed the cut at 11 over, as did South Deerfield’s Jonathan Elkins (Springfield C.C.), who finished 15 over.
