Holyoke Community College is the first community college in western Massachusetts to offer drop-in child care for student parents. This will be transformative for all parents who are enrolled in classes, but especially single parents who struggle with the steep costs of child care.

Congratulations and thanks to HCC President Christina Royal and all of the people at HCC who worked hard to create a huge game-changer that will ripple out for years. Quality child care is a marker of a society that understands the worth of children, honors the work of parents, and ultimately makes us a stronger society. Finding child care should never be a barrier to education and to securing a better future for families. I hope that more community colleges follow this example.
