Officials have released the identity of the 27-year-old Northampton man who died last month in Chesterfield, but remain tight-lipped regarding the nature of the investigation.

Johnathan Letendre, 27, was first reported dead on Dec. 26 at an address on South Street in Chesterfield. The Northwestern district attorney’s office released his name on Tuesday, but has not said what caused his death.

According to a GoFundMe page set up following Letendre’s death and Letendre’s Facebook page, he worked as a general manager at Dunkin’. His social media posts show that he was at the Friendly’s in Florence earlier on Dec. 26.

Wanda Perez, a former co-worker at Dunkin’ described Letendre as “an amazing person” and hard-working. She recalled him being “extremely proud” when he was promoted to general manager of the store, after previously working as a store manager for the the chain’s Haydenville location.

“About his death ... somebody absolutely needs to do something,” she said. “He’s not just some guy who died in Chesterfield. He was our friend, our family, our boss.”

Investigators have not said if any other parties were involved in Letendre’s death, but they said the public was not considered to be in any danger. The GoFundMe page set up in his memory has currently raised $2,700 of its stated $5,000 goal.
