Drivers may experience some frustration on Interstate 91 early this week as the state conducts pavement marking work.
Several on- and off-ramps on I-91 will experience short-term closures between Northampton and Deerfield on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, or MassDOT.
“Weather and operational issues may lead to the scheduled work hours, but it is anticipated that impacts to traffic will occur between approximately 7:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m., each day,” a MassDOT press release states.
On Monday, there will be periodic single-lane closures on I-91, as well as intermittent ramp closures at ramps 23, 24 and 25. Access to the rest area on that stretch of interstate will be restricted from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and the weigh station will be closed for an hour beginning at 1:30 a.m.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, periodic single-lane closures will continue. Ramps 21, 22, 23 and 24 will be closed intermittently on Tuesday, and ramps 21 and 22 will see closures on Wednesday.
“MassDOT encourages the public to be mindful of these impacts,” the agency’s press release reads. “Those traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution.”
