SPRINGFIELD — A Holyoke man has been sentenced to five years in prison for distributing fentanyl.
According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Carlos Morales, 31, was sentenced in federal court in Springfield on May 11 by Judge Mark Mastroianni to five years in prison and five years of supervised release. Morales had pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl in February.
Morales distributed more than 106,000 bags of fentanyl, for a total weight of more than 1.7 kilograms, which is believed to be one of the largest amounts of fentanyl packaged for delivery to be seized in western Massachusetts, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
