HOLYOKE — A Holyoke man was killed in an apparent shooting at the intersection of Pine and Sargeant streets Wednesday night, according to the Hampden district attorney’s office.
Luis Ramos, 49, was identified Friday as the victim in the incident that Holyoke Police responded to at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday.
When officers got to the scene they observed signs of a firearm discharged along the road, with Ramos located at the rear of a building in proximity to the Pine-Sargeant intersection. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The homicide investigation is being conducted by Holyoke Police, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni expressed his sympathies to the Ramos family.
