HADLEY — A pelvic floor therapist will be able to operate a therapy business from a Hadley home after receiving approval from the Planning Board this week.

On Tuesday, planners gave unanimous permission to Em Ike, who runs Pioneer Valley Pelvic Health, to practice from 5 Laurana Lane, with an assurance that clients won’t be parking on the street. Another condition Ike will have to abide by is operating during traditional daytime hours.

The approval is contingent on the building commissioner also granting permits, since the practice will be on the home’s second floor, which is not handicapped accessible. But that is outside the scope of zoning regulations, and Ike said should a disabled person seek treatment, visits to that person’s home would take place. 

The board also renewed the entertainment license for Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery at 172 Hockanum Road.

Denise Barstow Manz, marketing and education manager at the store, said the license is needed for live acoustic music performers and occasional speakers, usually focused on agricultural history, who make up the bulk of on-site events.

Planning Board Chairman James Maksimoski said planners are developing a bylaw for Town Meeting this spring that would impose more restrictions on what can be done through a license, noting the challenges from some farm store venues.

“We’re going after the live entertainment and the food trucks that would be coming in,” Maksimoski said.

Planners also approved moving a sign at 243 Russell St. 10 feet back from the road, necessary to accommodate the continued reconstruction of the state highway, and accepted an application for a ground-mounted solar project at 425 River Drive.
