HS indoor track: Yount, Jordan double up for Northampton

Adele Jordan and Mary Yount each had two overall victories as the Northampton girls indoor track & field team beat Longmeadow, 60-35, during the night session of the fourth PVIAC meet of the season, Friday at Smith College.

Jordan won the 55-meter hurdles (9.81 seconds) and the long jump (15 feet, 6½ inches). Yount won the 1,000 (3:20.37) and the mile (5:22.79).

Naomi Andrew gave Northampton a win in the 2-mile (12:57.56), while the 4x400 relay finished first in 4:28.62.

Hannah Wodecki won the high jump (4-8) and shot put (30-2) for Hampshire Regional, which beat Commerce (57-28), but lost to Ludlow (65-30) and Mohawk Trail (58-36).

Anajisa Robinson (44.4) and Danielle Beason (44.98) went first and second, respectively, in the 300 to pace Amherst Regional, which lost to Longmeadow (77-14) and Central (37-24).

Holyoke beat Central, 57-31, as the 4x400 relay finished fourth and Selena Garcia Rodriguez finished fifth in the high jump (4-6).

In the boys meet, Northampton went 1-2-3 in the 2-mile as the Blue Devils beat Longmeadow, 51-44.

Tobias L’Esperance (10:06.58), Tim Jacques (10:06.94) and Max Schneider (10:29.08) led the 2-mile finish.

Lars Sippel won the 600 (1:29.64), Benjamin Howe took the 1,000 (2:40.95) and Simon LaClair won the mile (4:31.56) for Northampton.

Holyoke fell to Central, 47-43. Jack Shea (mile, 5:02.86), Marcel Guzik (600, 1:34.13) and the 4x400 relay (3:58.81) each placed fourth.

Short-handed Amherst lost to Longmeadow (86-8) and Central (67-9). JJ Block was fourth in the shot put (37-¼).

Hampshire Regional beat Mohawk Trail (64-30) and Commerce (71-20), but lost to Ludlow (54-37). Josh Denoronha was second in the high jump (5-10) and the 4x400 relay was third (3:58.1).
