A Florence woman was arrested at her home Monday night after allegedly hitting two women with her car in the parking lot of a Chicopee restaurant.

Rachel Rotham, 39, of 748 Florence Road, was arrested by Northampton Police just before 8:30 p.m. and charged with leaving the scene of personal injury. Northampton Police went to Rotham’s home at the request of Chicopee Police, according to Northampton Police Capt. John Cartledge.

In addition to the charge in Northampton, Chicopee Police charged Rotham with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious damage to a motor vehicle.

Chicopee Police were called to the 99 Restaurant on Memorial Drive around 8 p.m. Monday for a report of past malicious damage to a vehicle.

When police arrived, officers were informed by two people that as they were attempting to park their vehicle, a woman, later identified as Rotham, was blocking the spot, according to Officer Michael Wilk.

The driver told police she asked Rotham to move and then an argument between the two began. Rotham allegedly keyed the woman’s vehicle before walking back to her own car, according to Wilk.

Both the driver and her passenger got out of their vehicle and walked over to Rotham’s car to take a photo of the license plate. That information led police to Rotham’s Florence residence.

As Rotham left the parking lot, she drove at both the driver and her passenger, striking them both, according to Wilk. The two were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

When Chicopee Police spoke with Rotham, she told officers that both the driver and her passenger were jumping on her car, causing damage, according to Wilk. Both people in the other vehicle, two women from Springfield, are being summoned to court for malicious damage, according to Wilk.
