UMass got five on it.

There are five UMass hockey players on Hockey East All-Star teams, which were released Friday.

Senior forward Bobby Trivigno, the league’s scoring champion, and freshman defenseman Scott Morrow were first team selections.

Junior defenseman Matthew Kessel and graduate student goalie Matt Murray were named to the third team.

Freshman defenseman Ryan Ufko garnered honorable mention.

“You’ve got to have good players that are difference makers, and our difference makers were all recognized,” UMass coach Greg Carvel said.

Trivigno was the only unanimous first-team selection after notching 32 points in 24 conference games (43 overall). His 18 assists in Hockey East play also led the league. He finished the season with 13 points in his last eight games. It’s his second consecutive season as a first-team all-star.

Morrow – an all-rookie selection as well – ranked fourth in the league in conference scoring as a freshman defenseman with 23 points.

Kessel, who also finished as runner up for the league’s best defenseman, was a stalwart for the Minutemen on the blue line and accumulated 12 points in Hockey East play. He has six points in his last five games. Kessel was on the third team last season

Murray was honored by Hockey East for the first time of his five-year career. He was fifth in the league during conference play in goals against average (2.19) and save percentage (.920). His 14 conference wins were second in Hockey East. Murray finished with three shutouts, tied for third.

Ufko, who also made the all-rookie team, was in the top 10 for conference scoring with 22 points.

No. 12 UMass (19-12-2), the No. 2 seed in the Hockey East tournament, will host seventh seeded Providence (22-13-2), the No. 20 team in the country, at 7 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinals.
