BELCHERTOWN — A Granby man pleaded not guilty to numerous child pornography charges Monday and was ordered held without bail, though he can request bail at a later date, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.

Eric J. Lacoste, 34, was arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown. He was arrested Saturday at his home at 11 Darrel Ave. after an investigation  traced child pornography activity to his computer’s IP address. Police obtained a search warrant and found evidence of child pornography in Lacoste’s home. It is the second time that Lacoste has been arrested on child pornography charges in recent years.

Lacoste was arraigned Monday on charges of possession of child pornography (second offense), dissemination of child pornography, dissemination of matter harmful to a minor (second offense), posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity, and solicitation of felony. He is being held on these charges as well as for operating while under the influence, which is an unrelated case, and for violating his probation in connection with his guilty plea and conviction in 2014 on similar child pornography charges, according to the district attorney’s office.

In 2014, Lacoste was charged with dissemination of obscene matter to a minor, posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity and one count of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced to 2½ years in the Hampshire County House of Correction, with six months to be served and the balance suspended under several conditions, including five years of probation, sex offender treatment and no unsupervised contact with children.

The investigation into Lacoste’s latest arrest involved the Massachusetts State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, Granby Police, State Police assigned to the district attorney’s office with assistance from the Alabama State Police and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Lacoste is scheduled to return to court Oct. 28.
