HOLYOKE — A man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries after he was involved in a single-car crash at the intersection of Main and Spring streets on Friday afternoon.
Holyoke Fire Capt. Kevin Cavagnac said firefighters responded around 12:30 p.m. to the intersection where they found a car on the sidewalk and a person stuck inside.
Firefighters used gas-powered saws with metal cutting blades to cut through a section of chain link fencing that the car had come to rest against in order to remove the injured driver from the car through the driver’s side door, Cavagnac said.
The man was transported to the trauma center at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield in serious condition.
