Winning a Hobey Baker award is about the only thing Bobby Trivigno hasn’t accomplished in college hockey.

The UMass captain moved one step closer Wednesday, when he was named a 2022 Top 10 finalist for the sport’s most prestigious individual honor.

It’s the second bout of recognition this week for Trivigno, who was named the Hockey East player of the year Tuesday. Trivigno has also been named the Frozen Four’s most outstanding player during last year’s national title run, been honored as a first-team All-American and won the Walter Brown award as the top American-born college hockey player in New England.

He’s the fourth Hobey Baker finalist in UMass hockey history and the third in the past four years. Amherst native John Leonard was a finalist in 2020, Cale Makar won the award in 2019 and Thomas Poeck received the recognition in 2004.

Trivigno led Hockey East in scoring this season and is fifth in the country with 45 points. His 27 assists for the No. 11 team in the nation rank ninth nationally.

The other finalists are: Michigan’s Matty Beniers and Luke Hughes, Denver’s Bobby Brink, Michigan Tech’s Brian Halonen, fellow Hockey East all-star Devon Levi of Northeastern University, Minnesota State’s Dryden McKay and Nathan Smith, Minnesota’s Ben Meyers and Quinnipiac’s Yanev Perets.

Over the next 10 days, the 30-member selection committee and an additional round of fan voting on hobeybaker.com will determine the winner. The top three finalists will be announced March 31, and the award will be presented April 8 in Boston between the Frozen Four semifinals and national championship game.

UMass (20-12-2) will face UMass Lowell in the Hockey East semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the TD Garden.
