I write as a 62-year-old lifelong Democrat, one who is deeply appreciative of the efforts and successes of the Massachusetts elected officials of this party.
I do believe however, that times are changing, and that hope for our country’s future must belong to brave and engaged young people who may envision and enact a different structure to our democracy. Young people in Parkland, Florida, St. Louis and all across the country know better than anyone what is at stake here.
Solomon Goldstein-Rose is the same talented and conscientious legislator today as he was before he left the Democratic Party (“Amherst representative quits party,” Feb. 21). His willingness to take this potentially politically risky step speaks to his courage and integrity.
I believe he deserves our continued respect and support as he continues his excellent work on behalf of the district and the commonwealth.
