In referring to those in the community living with a low-income and challenging socioeconomic status, “needy” as headlined in the Jan. 13 paper, is insulting.
Imagine living in one the city’s public housing complexes, picking up the paper, and seeing yourself labeled as such while those delivering you the food get featured in praise of a good deed. Patronizing words like this for those with low or no income is oppressive and needs to change.
