Amherst native John Leonard will suit up for his third NHL franchise after signing a one-year deal with the Arizona Coyotes, the team announced Monday night.

The former UMass forward agreed to a one-year, two-way contract. He spent last season in the Nashville Predators organization after being traded there on draft night in 2022.

Most of that was with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals, where he accumulated 17 goals and 27 points in 67 games. Leonard also skated for six games with the Predators, potting a goal in his Nashville debut March 2.

He’s appeared in 64 NHL games since signing his entry level contract with the San Jose Sharks in 2020. San Jose drafted him in the sixth round in 2018.

Leonard made his NHL debut at Arizona on Jan. 14, 2021.
