
The Tighe and Bond Consulting Engineers firm of Holyoke has entered into an agreement to buy the United Elastic building at 50 Payson Ave. in Easthampton. Few details of the purchase were available today, but it appeared that the move would result in the hiring of some 25 additional workers in the course of the next year or so.

In a growing economic trend that has found its way into the clergy, the Episcopal Church voted Thursday to divest from fossil fuel holdings and invest instead in companies developing renewable energy sources. The Rev. Margaret Bullitt-Jonas, of the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts, said Saturday the Episcopal Church is the third and largest faith group in the United States to take such a step.
To honor the 80th birthday of the Dalai Lama, the local Tibetan community on Sunday joined members of the Cathedral in the Night ministry on the sidewalk in front of First Churches in feeding everyone from homeless individuals to shoppers walking the city streets. The Cathedral in the Night offers this free community meal as part of a weekly worship service.
