The Belchertown baseball team’s bats hit another level in its 14-5 win over South Hadley on Thursday.
The Orioles cracked 10 hits, with their three, four and five hitters all driving in two runs in their highest scoring game of the season so far.
Ryan Gould, Canyon Charron and Max Matthews totaled six RBIs altogether for Belchertown, while Nathan Marino (2-for-6, double) and Nathan Leblond (2-for-3) also contributed to its impressive offense.
Charron grabbed the win on the mound for the O’s, going five innings and allowing four hits and three runs while striking out four.
The Tigers used five different pitchers in the loss, with starter Charles Maxwell taking the loss.
Ryan Netkovick was South Hadley’s best batter, concluding 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Holyoke 10, Chicopee 0 — Nine of 11 Purple Knights players who got into the game against the Pacers had hits in their huge win.
Jeremy Francisco (2-for-2, triple) and Nolan Judd (2-for-2) were sharp from the batter’s box for Holyoke.
Joseph Rios struck out seven and surrendered no hits in four innings from the rubber for the Purple Knights.
Wahconah 15, Hampshire 3 — An early 3-2 lead quickly vanished for the Raiders in their first loss of the season.
Cam Hunsicker and Tom Moore earned RBIs for Hampshire.
Ludlow 16, Amherst 4 — The ‘Canes crumbled late, allowing 10 runs in the sixth to drop to 1-4 on the season.
Colin Beganny, Brady Klaes, Wayne Dowd, and Oliver Howard had Amherst’s hits.
Boys volleyball
Belchertown 3, Frontier 0 — The Orioles shut out the Redhawks for their third win of the season.
Shea Maclean smashed a team-high nine kills, while Arda Cayan (22 assists) and Dara Mao (13 digs) were active on the court for the victors.
Nate Rivera (11 kills) and Ethan Rivera (15 assists) played well for Frontier.
Set scores 25-12, 25-10 and 25-21 in favor of Belchertown.
Girls lacrosse
Belchertown 18, Chicopee Comp 12 — Make it four straight wins for the O’s after their triumph against the Colts.
Aubrey McCain netted eight goals and added four assists as Belchertown’s most dangerous attacker versus Chicopee Comp. Lily Tellier (six goals) and Lia Pikul (seven points) also put together top-notch performances.
Orioles goalie Emma Almeida finished with seven saves.
Girls tennis
Longmeadow 5, Amherst 0 — The Hurricanes were shut out in their season-opening match against the Lancers.
Amherst’s first scheduled match against Westfield last Tuesday was postponed.

Granby 3, Southwick 1 — Jake Gagnon and Braeden Gallagher combined for 35 kills in the Rams’ four-set victory.
Granby improved to 5-1 overall.
Girls tennis
Renaissance 3, Holyoke 2 — First and second singles went to the Purple Knights, but the remaining three points were claimed by the Phoenix.
Grace OโShea-Griffiths (6-1, 6-3) and Abby Ngure (6-1, 6-4) won their matches for Holyoke.
